Meet The Tiessens

I’ve known Suzanne since about 1998 and I think she rocks – hilarious (just like her little sister Jenni whom you can read about in this post about Baby Olivia), kind, loving and full of life and she loves her kids more than anything else in the world – my kind of friend!  Our lives are busy and we don’t get to hang out very often, but I always enjoy it when we do and my sides always ache from laughing after I spend time with Suz and her family.

Suzanne is married to Brad – funny, charming and an amazing dad – and they have three awesometastic kids.  Gage is the older brother and it’s so easy to see how much he adores his little sisters, Lexi and Halle.  I had so much fun taking their pictures because, well, there was just a whole lot of laughing going on.  Of course, kids don’t usually enjoy having their pictures taken in a formal setting, so I tried to make it as fun as I possibly could.  We ran around in circles, made funny faces and had a family race.  And I even jacked them up on jelly beans, just to throw some interesting sugar antics into the mix. Sugar + Lexi and Halle = Enough giggles to choke a snake (and that’s a lot of giggles when you think of how wide a snike can open its throat up)!

The girls call me Crazy Jo because I tend to act a little spastic when I’m around them (just to make them giggle as much as possible), but Suzanne informed me just before we started shooting that Lexi had explained to Gage that morning that my name wasn’t really “Crazy Jo”, it was really just “Jo”.  Although she didn’t say anything about how I wasn’t crazy…lol.

Suzanne and Brad, thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to photograph your beautiful, adorable, always-ready-to-make-me-laugh-hysterically family.  I hope we can do it again next year!

Here are my favorites from the shoot.

Tiessen_4x6_-0446-2Are you all ready to meet the Westerbys?  They’ll be making an appearance on tomorrow’s blog.

Goodnight my friends.  I wish you enough.

  1. I am ready to meet the Westerbys! I hear they are pretty cool people 😉 lol.
I wanted to say that the way you manage to capture the “realness” of people is truly magical! The joy and love comes through so clearly through your lens but also the silliness, playfulness and contemplation that make families unique. I cannot wait to see what you have done with us!!
